Scuba Diving
The Catalina's Archipelago, only a 40-minute boat ride away from Tamarindo, is a true diving paradise. It is quite common to see a vast variety of species of varied sizes and colors, like sharks, manta rays and more.
Scuba divers from all over the world come to Costa Rica to scuba dive the Catalina Islands which is also an amazing place to snorkel all year long. This is thanks to the tropical weather on the land and the warm water temperatures throughout every season of the year.
We highly recommend bringing your underwater camera with you on your trip because diving in Tamarindo will be a great experience.
Tamarindo Adventures – Catalina Islands
The Catalina's area is a group of 17 volcanic rock formations, with a large variety of marine life including sharks, turtles, whales, dolphins, mantas, and much more. We provide diving and snorkeling trips to the Catalina Islands all year round.
Tip: The best chance to see the highest number of Manta Rays is from late November to early May. Please keep in mind that this is our high season and you should book your diving trip the earlier you can. From June to September is the best time to potentially encounter tiger sharks, killer whales, humpback whales, whale sharks, pilot whales, and spinner dolphins.
